Date Night In:
Crafts & Conversation

Big Idea - The best way to protect your relationship is to enjoy it.

Big Idea - The best way to protect your relationship is to enjoy it.

It’s easy to fall into a routine of simply discussing day to day activities and problems with your spouse. We assume we already know them so having deeper, life-giving conversations don’t come up naturally. An entire lifetime together isn’t enough to truly know a person, because they are always changing. Diving deep with your partner and investing in getting to know them will strengthen the bonds between you. So take the time to invest in meaningful conversation – it will help you get a step closer.

Before you get started, take steps to make the most of this in-home date night:

1.

Treat date night at home with the same intentionality as a night out - this means putting away your phone, reducing distractions, and focusing on each other

2.

Have kids? Give them an early dinner, put them to bed early, or give them an alternative activity such as a movie or game to keep them busy. Click here for some other ideas.

3.

Be flexible! Date night at home might be different than your usual routine. Don’t let a few mishaps or small roadblocks get in the way of having a great time.

Kick off your date by getting cozy and watching this video together!

Wrap Up

Agree to spend at least 10 minutes every day this week talking with each other about anything other than work, the household, kids, problems, or even your relationship. Focus on the things that matter down deep — the things that expand your understanding of your mate. You’ll be glad you did!
